The NES Tournament is an annual event in the NES community that has been in running since the year 1998. The purpose of this tournament is to see what NES game would win in several head-to-head match-ups with other NES games, for the glory of "NES Tournament Champion"! There is a preliminary nomination round where members of the community submit a Top 20 list. After counting the votes using a 20-point priority scale, the 64 games are selected to compete. After the tournament field, divisions, and matches are compiled, members vote for which game they want to succeed. The game with the more votes moves on to the next round to face another winner. Tournament ends after 6 rounds, then the winner is chosen. To play along, join the PlayTheNES.com forums and visit each division's vote thread. Voting is handled through "replies" rather than click polls, as to prevent overwhelming popularity votes from non-community members.
